This 4 day tour comes with 2 guides! They'll help you with the weight of backpacking with a partial porter service included! We'll carry your tent, sleeping pad, and all the food (except snacks you'll want to keep handy anyhow). Partial porter service is a HUGE help! Backpacking Excursions has designed this itinerary for people to take part in, who may have been reluctant before. This is not to undermine the difficulty of the hike, hiking into the Grand Canyon is very difficult no matter which itinerary we offer, however this is easiest level itinerary we offer, and may be a more suitable fit for some compared to the more advanced itineraries. This hike is unique because it's a basecamp tour, which offers more day hiking options compared to longer distance backpacking. Base camp hikes may be easier for some that don’t like to carry the extra backpacking weight for longer distances. On a day hike when you return to the same camp you started at, you won't need to carry all your personal and necessary gear with you. Many items may be left at the camp you are returning to, as opposed to packing up and leaving, and carrying 100% of your bag to a new camp each day. The best part of this base camp tour is it comes without sacrificing much of the best sites! We've got much of your gear covered and all your snacks and meals for the duration of the tour. Entrance fees into Grand Canyon National Park and roundtrip transportation from Flagstaff to Grand canyon included! When making a reservation online, you'll be putting $75 down and the balance will be due in full no later than 60 days from the start date of the tour. See FAQ page for more info, or email us! It's important to reserve your spot with us up to 5 months prior to the start of the tour, as the National Park’s permit system fills up fast for the most popular trials. The National Park issues permits on the 1st of the month 4 months prior to the tour start date. Much of the National Park’s availability for permits sell out very fast on the initial lottery, hence it’s a good idea to reserve your spot well in advance.
