Q: How do I know if I'm ready to hike the Grand Canyon?
A: This is a great question that we all face, and the answer can greatly differ amongst us. Generally speaking, any hike into the Grand Canyon is difficult. That said, we've seen many people, all walks of life do fine in the canyon, although soreness, and fatigue can and will occur, most of us push through this. We cannot give medical advice, so any doubt whatsoever of your abilities to participate should be conversation between you and your doctor. Read the tour descriptions thoroughly, and know the mileage and expectations of the tour. Note* that optional side hikes are completely optional for you to decide at the time of your tour. We post the minimum mileage in the tour descriptions, but all side hikes are optional. Participants have the option to remain at camp and rest, use the free time as they see fit in place of optional side hikes. All these things considered (*reminder that this is not medical advice), 2-4 months prior to tours may be sufficient time for many to prepare for a Canyon hike. We can assist with some plans that you should consult and clear with your doctor prior to implementing.

Q: Dietary preferences: Will my dietary preferences be taken into consideration?
A: Absolutely! Once you book with us there is an enrollment form that will ask about your dietary preferences , however if you don’t have all the details right now, that’s ok, your guides be reaching out to introduce themselves and can gather more details of all your likes/dislikes. We can accommodate most dietary preferences such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, traditional diets, etc. If you have additional questions on dietary preferences, please email information@backpackingexcursions.com.
